Reflecting the time and energy we devote to an imagined process of upward social mobility, the act of scaling a wall of art towards supposed glory invites us to contemplate motivation and status. Occupying a middle ground betwen objectivity and subjectivity, this permanent installation offers a distinct experience to each and every participant. It encourages us to enjoy the very source of our anxiety, gamifying stress in the name of rediscovering personal agency, towards the surreal realm of success.

King Minos of Crete once refused to sacrifice a white bull to the Gods in thanks for giving him an island to rule over.
Minos’ wife, Queen Pasiphae, was punished by the Gods for her husband’s desire. Poseidon cast a spell on Pasiphae inducing her to lust after the white bull herself, in effect projecting her husband’s own desire onto her, as punishment for his lack of humility.
According to Virgil, Queen Pasiphae commissioned archetypal Greek artist and craftsman Daedalus to build her a cowsuit in which she could copulate with the bull.
This performative sculpture attempts to recreate the fuck-bull Daedalus built for the queen, acting as a suit for sitters of either sex to enter. The addition of bull’s horns to the structure serve to contest the notion of female sexual passivity and to suggest that the true desire behind the creation of the suit was homosocial.
